BOSTON – Led by David Walker's overtime heroics and career-high 27 points, the Northeastern men's basketball team defeated Boston University 87-84 at Case Gymnasium Friday night in its season opener.

The Huskies (1-0) and Terriers (0-1) forced a third-straight overtime game at "The Roof" (2011, 2009) where Caleb Donnelly, with 16 seconds remaining on the clock, hit a clutch three-pointer to give the Huskies an 87-84 lead and the eventual win. John Papale air balled the game-winning try for BU.

Walker finished the game with 27 points, a career-best, going 10-for-14 on the night, 5-for-8 from behind the arc, also tallying seven rebounds and two steals.

His 27 points mark the second-straight 20-point effort for the senior captain against BU and extend his double-digit scoring streak to 13 games dating back to Feb. 4, 2015. Seven of Walker's 27 points came during the overtime period.

According to Donnelly, the game-winner was his first such shot since his high school days.

BU had five players score in double figures on the night, leg by Cheddi Mosely's 19 points coming on five three-pointers.

Every Husky to step on the court against the Terriers recorded at least one point including freshmen Jeremy Miller and Anthony Green, who made their collegiate debuts. Miller finished with six points, two rebounds and a block while Green added three points and a rebound.

Senior Zach Stahl led the way for the Huskies in the first half of play earning 15 of his 17 points on the night in the first frame of action including 11 of Northeastern's first 21 points.

Quincy Ford came alive in the second half, tallying 10 points, half of which came via the charity stripe. Ford hit five-straight clutch free throws with time winding down in regulation to help force the overtime period.

The game was destined for extra time, in the first half alone, there were three ties and eight lead changes between the two teams. In the second half, there were four more lead changes and ties, including when the final buzzer went off.

In overtime, Walker went off scoring Northeastern's first seven points, while Donnelly capped the night off with a clutch three to seal the win.
