BOSTON – With five players tallying double-digit scoring marks, the Northeastern men's basketball team ran past Wentworth 91-62, in its home opener Tuesday night at the Cabot Center in front of 1,798 fans, including former Husky and current Dallas Maverick J.J. Barea.

The 29-point margin of victory was the greatest for the Huskies (2-0) since a 48-point thrashing of Lasell (also a D-III program) on Nov. 22, 2005, during Barea's senior season.

Jimmy Marshall notched a career-best 14 points on the night, all of which came in the first half more than doubling his previous career best of six set twice during his freshman campaign.

Devon Begley also tallied a career-high 14 points on 6-of-13 shooting, leading the team with a career-high six assists along with three rebounds.

Jason Ganley paced Wentworth (1-2) with a game-high 23 points, six rebounds, and one assist.

The Huskies began the first half on a 10-3 run, with Quincy Ford knocking down the first points of the game for the Huskies on a couple of free throws.

After Wentworth sank a three-pointer, its second of the game, to make it 10-6, Northeastern went on a 27-2 run spanning 9:28 to take a 37-10 lead. During that time, Marshall scored 14 of the Huskies 27 points.

Sajon Ford and Brandon Kamga saw their first action of the season checking in during the seventh minute of action. Each of the rookies finished with six and 12 points respectively on the night.

Freshman Anthony Green tallied the Huskies 49th and 50th points of the night on an easy layup and though Wentworth finished the period with a jumper, the Huskies took a 54-18 lead into the locker room at halftime. Green finished the game with 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds and three blocks on the night.

Wentworth broke out on an 8-0 run to begin the second half, but was silenced by seven points by David Walker via free throws, a three point shot and a slam.

Quincy Ford slammed down back-to-back dunks, drawing the and-one on the first of the pair to extend the Huskies lead to 36 points with 15:10 remaining in the second half. The points would be the final on the night for Ford, who took to the bench shortly thereafter with 10 points on 3-for-3 shooting, in just nine minutes of play.

The 91 points were the most since the Huskies defeated Hofstra 91-83 last season on January 14, 2015.

The Huskies continue their play in the Men Against Breast Cancer Challenge when they head to Oxford, Ohio to face off in the tournament opener against Florida Atlantic on Friday, November 20 at 5 p.m.
