RALEIGH, N.C. – In its final non-conference game of the season, the Northeastern men's basketball team fell to NC State 72-66 Tuesday night in Raleigh in front of 17,074 fans at PNC Arena.

The Huskies (8-5) were led by Quincy Ford, who finished the night with 15 points and eight rebounds, while David Walker chipped in 13 points and five assists and Caleb Donnelly added 12 on 4-of-6 three-point shooting in his first career start.

Also making a debut was Donnell Gresham Jr. who saw his first action of the season, playing 20 minutes and tallying nine points on 3-of-4 shooting from behind the arc.

Zach Stahl also finished with nine points and was close to a triple-double dishing out six assists and reeling in seven rebounds while making two steals on the night. Jeremy Miller also filled up the stat sheet tallying eight points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal in the game.

For NC State (10-3), Anthony Barber led all scorers with 29 points while Abdul-Malik Abu finished with a 10 point, 12 rebound double-double.

Northeastern jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead to start the game as Stahl notched the game's first points on a layup and Ford followed with a steal and dunk to give the Huskies the early lead.

NU headed into the first media with an 8-2 advantage, but NC State went on a 7-1 run over the next five minutes to tie the game at nine-all.

The two teams traded baskets and Walker put the Huskies ahead with a fastbreak layup, but NC State rallied once again and used a 6-0 run, capped by an Abu dunk to earn a 25-20 advantage.

Northeastern chipped away as Miller nailed two free throws, and after Barber's fifth basket of the half, Gresham hit on his first career basket, a well-timed 3-pointer to bring the Huskies to within two before the half.

After a back-and-forth beginning to the second half, with both teams tied at 38, Walker nailed a three at 13:44 to give the Huskies the edge. However, NC State went on a 12-0 run to make what was a three-point deficit, a nine-point advantage, and took a 50-41 lead.

Gresham ended the drought with his second trey of the game and after allowing the Wolfpack one more basket, Northeastern responded with an 8-0 run of its own to bring the game within one point, 52-51.

Barber layed in one of his 11 baskets on the night on the next possession, but Ford responded with a big three to tie the game up at 54-all.

Rowan answered on the other end with his own three, but once again, Gresham knotted things at 57-apiece with his third trey of the game.

However, Caleb Martin put the Pack up by six with back-to-back threes, to give NC State a 63-57 advantage and the ultimate lead in the game as the Wolfpack would hang on to win, despite one final three by Donnelly, 72-66.

The Huskies return to action with their final game of 2015 and their first conference game of the season when they head to Elon, N.C. to take on the Phoenix Thursday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m.
