BOSTON – No. 2/3 Boston College (13-1-1, 6-0-1) scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the third period to erase a two-goal deficit and defeat the Northeastern men's ice hockey team on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena, 4-3.
 
Eric Williams led the Huskies with two goals, his first collegiate multi-goal game, while Zach Aston-Reese also scored for Northeastern. NU jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first period with a pair of tallies from Williams, before Aston-Reese put the Huskies up by two through 40 minutes of play.
 
The third period was all Eagles as Josh Couturier and Alex Tuch scored within 52 seconds of each other to tie the game at three before Matthew Gaudreau but BC up by one with a tip-in with 11:08 to play in regulation.
 
Ryan Ruck made 26 saves in goal for Northeastern, while Thatcher Demko stopped 22 pucks for the Eagles, who outshot NU 30-25 in the game. The Huskies buried two power play goals during the contest while holding BC to an 0-of-2 showing.
 
Goal descriptions:
• Northeastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game when he netted his third of the year on a shot from the point. After Mike McMurtry won a draw clean back to Williams at the blue line, Williams corralled the puck, took a couple strides towards goal and flung a low shot through traffic that got past Demko.
 
• Williams struck again with 7:55 left in the first on a power play opportunity for the Huskies. With NU cycling the puck in the Boston College end, McMurtry sent the puck down to Colton Saucerman near the goal line. Saucerman then spotted Williams on the weak side, and Williams ripped a shot top shelf for his second of the game.
 
• Boston College brought it back to a one-goal game with its second shorthanded goal of the weekend, this one coming from Ryan Fitzgerald. After the Eagles were able to clear the puck away from Demko, Fitzgerald created a turnover in the neutral zone and then roofed a shot over the shoulder of Ruck for his 11th of the year.
 
• Aston-Reese put the Huskies back up by two just 1:23 after the Fitzgerald tally, however, capitalizing with NU's second power play strike of the night. As NU quickly moved the puck around the zone, Dylan Sikura spotted Nolan Stevens in the slot and fed the puck down low. Stevens then hit Aston-Reese with a pass to the left of Demko, and Aston-Reese was able to sneak a wrist shot by him for the score.
 
• The Eagles came out firing in the third period, and quickly made it a 3-2 game just 2:30 into the period as Josh Couturier rocketed a one-timer from the point through traffic and past Ruck off a feed from Scott Savage.
 
• Alex Tuch tied it up at three 52 seconds after the Couturier tally when he took a pass from Zach Sanford in the neutral zone, sped down the right side of the rink and tucked a wraparound off the pad of Ruck and in for Tuch's fifth of the year.
 
• Boston College took its first lead of the game with 11:09 remaining in regulation as Matthew Gaudreau, positioned in between the hashmarks, tipped home a shot from Savage at the point, beating Ruck for his fourth of the season.

• Northeastern is now 48-163-16 all-time against Boston College
 
• Williams is the first NU defenseman to record a two-goal game since Colton Saucerman scored twice at Maine on March 2, 2013. He is riding a three-goal point streak (two goals, two assists).
 
• Aston-Reese now has 10 points (five goals, five assists) in his last eight games, and six points (three goals, three assists) in his last four.
 
• McMurtry has six points (one goal, five assists) in his last three games.
 
• Nolan Stevens is on a career-long four-game point streak (four goals, two assists).
