Men's Hockey Opens 2026-27 At Bentley Saturday

BOSTON -- The 95th season of Northeastern men's hockey kicks off on Saturday night as the Huskies travel to Bentley for a 6 p.m. puck drop on FloHockey.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW

1. SERIES HISTORY VS. BENTLEY
Northeastern and Bentley will be meeting for the 16th time in series history, and fifth time in the last six seasons. The Huskies own an 8-5-2 edge in the all-time series, including wins in five of the last six meetings.

2. NORTHEASTERN IN SEASON OPENERS
Northeastern is 57-29-8 (.649) all-time in season openers, and a perfect 5-0-0 under Fernie Flaman Head Coach Jerry Keefe. The Huskies have won nine straight season openers dating back to 2017-18, and are unbeaten in their last 11 (10-0-1) dating back to 2015-16.

3. RETURNING FIREPOWER
Northeastern returns four of its top five scorers from a season ago, led by sophomore Jacob Mathieu. His 10 goals and 20 assists were tied for eighth in freshman scoring for the Huskies over the last 40 years, helping the Quebec native to Hockey East All-Rookie Team honors.

He'll be joined by junior Joe Connor (13-14--27 in 2025-26), who has a four-game point streak dating back to last season, along with Amine Hajibi (7-19--27) and Giacomo Martino (13-12--25).
