The Huskies (6-3) had two looks at the game-winner, but the ball could not fall in.
David Walker's initial trying layup rimmed out and
Jeremy Miller's put back hit the back of the rim and bounced out as Western Michigan (4-5) hung on for the victory.
This marks the first time this season and first time since Jan. 24-28, 2015 that Northeastern has lost back-to-back games. The Huskies is now 1-1 on the year in overtime games.

After Western Michigan jumped out to an 85-80 lead early in the overtime period, Miller notched the first five points of OT for the Huskies tying the game up on an and-one opportunity with 1:07 left in the ball game.
Wilder, who scored all of WMU's overtime points, hit the go-ahead with 46 seconds remaining, but Walker was fouled trying to even the score with 32 ticks on the clock. Walker missed the first of the two free throws, the lone miss on the night for the senior who went 9-for-10 from the charity stripe.
The Huskies immediately fouled, and WMU missed both of the shots setting up what could have been the game-winner, but the ball just did not fall through the back of the rim for Northeastern at the end of extra time.
It was a Walker fadeaway three that set up the Huskies for overtime. The shot looked as though it was going to rim out, but fell back in to tie the ballgame at 80-all forcing Northeastern's second overtime game of the year.
Coming out of the locker room with a 44-40 halftime lead, the Huskies only managed three baskets and eight points in the first 10 minutes of play in the second half. After back-to-back threes to break open the WMU lead, head coach
Bill Coen called his first timeout of the game and the Huskies edged back into the ball game.
Walker set things into motion for Northeastern, draining back-to-back jumpers followed by a Ford 3-pointer to get the Huskies back into the ball game.
In the first half of play, six different Huskies recorded a three-point shot, the first time that six different Northeastern players have drained a three since Feb. 13, 2013 against James Madison. Northeastern finished with 11 3-pointers on the night, eight coming in the first half alone.
The Huskies outpaced Western Michigan recording 23 points off turnovers to the Broncos' 13. Northeastern forced WMU into 17 turnovers on the night.
