HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Scott Eatherton and David Walker combined for 44 points as the Northeastern men's basketball team (17-9, 9-4 CAA) picked up a huge 79-68 win at Hofstra (16-10, 7-6 CAA) on Thursday night at the Mack Sports Complex.

Eatherton scored 20 of his season-high 24 points in the second half, while Walker chipped in 20 points and a career-high eight assists to help Northeastern secure its eighth straight win over Hofstra.

The victory moves the Huskies into a tie for second place in the CAA standings and improves NU's record to 7-1 in games following a loss this season.

The Huskies shot 56 percent and made 21 of 23 free throws, while out-rebounding the Pride by a 33-17 margin.

Juan'ya Green paced the Pride with 18 points and 10 assists, while Rokas Gustys (13 points) and Malik Nichols (12 points) also reached double figures in scoring.

Northeastern jumped out to a 6-3 lead at the first media timeout courtesy of a stingy defensive effort that held Hofstra to 1-of-7 shooting in the opening minutes.

The Pride took their only lead of the game at 13-12 at the midway point of the frame, but NU answered with a 6-0 run to take an 18-13 lead at the 8:30 mark.

Northeastern then pushed its lead to 11, 31-20, with an 8-1 run that included a jumper by redshirt junior Quincy Ford (15 points) and a steal and layup by Walker with 2:30 to play in the frame.

Hofstra responded with a 9-2 run to close the half–capped by a buzzer-beating hook-shot by Gustys–to cut the NU advantage to 33-29 at intermission.

The Huskies made six of their first seven shots out of the locker room to claim a 49-38 edge with 12 minutes to play, but again Hofstra came back, using a 13-2 spurt to pull within a bucket, 53-51, with 8:15 to play.

The Pride stayed within four until the 5:20 mark when Northeastern pulled away with a 9-2 run, initiated by a Ford 3-pointer from the right wing.

The Huskies then salted the game away with a 12-for-12 effort at the foul line in the waning minutes.

Northeastern will look to pick up another big road win on Saturday at UNCW. The game will be televised live on NESN and will tip-off at 8 p.m.
