BOSTON – Junior David Walker scored a career-high 25 points to lift the Northeastern men's basketball team (19-10, 11-5 CAA) to a thrilling 83-73 win over Drexel (10-17, 8-8 CAA) on senior day Saturday at Matthews Arena.

The Huskies led 61-50 with 3:14 to go, before a 10-1 run cut the lead to 62-60 with 31 seconds remaining. Drexel's Mohamed Bah then tied the game and drew a foul on a driving layup with 0.7 seconds left, leading to a game-deciding, and-one free throw. Northeastern called two timeouts to ice Bah, who missed the foul shot to send the game to overtime, tied at 62-apiece.

The Huskies stormed out of the gates in the extra session, building an eight-point lead after a pair of huge 3-pointers from redshirt junior Quincy Ford (15 points).

Walker then iced the contest at the foul line, converting all nine of his free throws in overtime to help the Huskies stay tied for first place in the CAA standings.

Senior Reggie Spencer (13 points), sophomore T.J. Williams (12 points) and senior Scott Eatherton (10 points) joined Walker and Ford in double-figure scoring as the Northeastern starting five accounted for 75 points.

Damion Lee led all scorers with 30 points on 10-of-28 shooting for Drexel. Tavon Allen and Rodney Williams chipped in 14 and 10 points, respectively, while Sammy Mojica added nine points, rebounds and four assists.

The Huskies shot 54.5 percent (24-for-44) and hit a season-high 31 free throws (31-for-39), including a 12-for-12 effort from Walker.

Northeastern rode its seniors to a 33-26 lead at halftime. Spencer scored nine of his 13 points in the opening 20 minutes, while Eatherton scored six of his 10 before the break.

The Huskies expanded their lead to 11 at 40-29 in the second half when Walker drained a 3-pointer, and then followed with an emphatic dunk at the 16:40 mark.

Northeastern kept the Dragons at bay until late in the half when the visitors came to life with a 12-1 run to send the game to overtime. Allen played a large role in the comeback, rattling off eight straight points in the final two minutes, including a pair of 3-pointers, to bring Drexel within a basket.

Bah then had a chance to steal the game for Drexel in the final second, but his free throw hit back iron and the Huskies were able to regroup for their first overtime win of the season.

Northeastern will close out the regular season next week with a pair of road games against Elon and Charleston on Feb. 26 and 28, respectively.
