All-time against BU in WHEA tournamentÂ
The Terriers put an end to the Huskies' 2013-14 season last year in the Hockey East semifinals when No. 2 Boston University knocked out No. 3 Northeastern, 3-2, in a closely contested game. This season marks the third consecutive year that NU and BU will meet in the WHEA postseason tournament as the two programs had also met in the 2013 championship game with BU winning, 5-2. Boston University leads Northeastern, 3-1-0, all-time in the Hockey East tournament, with the Huskies' lone win coming in the 2011 conference semifinals.
Â
Against the Terriers in 2014-15Â
Although Northeastern trails Boston University, 1-3-0, during the 2014-15 season series, two of the Huskies' three losses to the Terriers this year have ended within a one-goal margin of victory. NU surrendered a game-winning goal to Rebecca Russo during the second period of its Oct. 28 game against BU, but the Huskies responded on Nov. 11 when
Kendall Coyne erupted for five points (three goals, two assists) as Northeastern skated away with a 6-3 victory. Coyne registered her second hat trick against BU this season on Jan. 18 despite NU dropping a 4-3 decision to the Terriers, before the Huskies were defeated, 3-1, in the consolation game of the 2015 Beanpot on Feb. 10.
Â
Northeastern in the WHEA tournamentÂ
Northeastern is 7-8-0 all-time in the Hockey East tournament and has experienced tremendous success in recent years. The Huskies have now advanced to the semifinals in five consecutive seasons and have secured a spot in the championship game twice (2011, 2013), despite losing both times. Last year, No. 3 Northeastern scored two goals during the final three minutes of regulation to pull off a 2-1, come-from-behind victory against No. 6 Connecticut in the WHEA quarterfinals, but came up short against No. 2 Boston University, 3-2, in the semifinal round.
Â
Around the league in the WHEA quarterfinalsÂ
The Huskies were the only higher-seeded team in Hockey East that required three games to finish off their quarterfinal-round opponent as No. 3 Northeastern defeated No. 6 New Hampshire, 2-1, in a best-of-three series (1-2, 3-2, 4-3) at Matthews Arena. In other best-of-three WHEA quarterfinal action, No. 1 Boston College defeated No. 8 Providence, 2-0 (6-2, 8-0), No. 2 Boston University swept No. 7 Vermont, 2-0 (8-1, 7-2), and No. 5 Connecticut upset No. 4 Maine, 2-0 (3-1, 1-0 (OT)).
Â
BU goes for WHEA four-peat Â
Boston University arrives this weekend in Hyannis, Massachusetts, as the three-time defending Hockey East champions. The Terriers have won 11 straight WHEA tournament games, and have appeared in the league title game an impressive four out of the last five years. BU has not lost in the league's postseason tournament since March 5, 2011, when Northeastern defeated Boston University, 4-2, on the Terrier's home ice at Walter Brown Arena.

Desjardins sets two NU goalie recordsÂ
With a 34-save performance against New Hampshire during the final game of the 2014-15 regular season on Feb. 22, senior goaltender
Chloe Desjardins became the Huskies' all-time saves leader, surpassing Florence Schelling's mark of 2,681 career saves. Entering Saturday's WHEA semifinal game, Desjardins has accumulated 2,775 career saves and has the potential to become the first NU goalie to record more than 2,800 career saves this weekend in Hyannis. After playing in all three quarterfinal games against No. 6 New Hampshire, Desjardins also moved into sole possession of first place in games played as a goaltender (103 games), surpassing Shannon Meyers' previous record of 100 games.
