Season StatsNEWTON, Mass. – In an evenly-matched game between two regional rivals, the Boston College Eagles (6-2-0) tipped the Northeastern women's soccer team (5-2-0), 1-0, on Friday night at Newton Campus Field.
Hayley Dowd scored the game's only goal against the run of play in the 67th minute as the Eagles snapped NU's five-game winning streak.
Minutes before BC's eventual game-winner, the Huskies nearly took the lead when freshman
Hannah Rosenblatt's shot was directed over the bar by BC keeper Alex Johnson (three saves).Â
The Huskies threatened to even the score on numerous occasions, but the BC defense was able to hold on as NU was held scoreless for the first time this season.
Goal Recaps• Hayley Dowd scored the only goal of the game at the 66:29 mark. BC's Gaby Carreiro played a beautiful ball into the box from the right wing and Dowd was able to poke it home from eight yards out.
Stats of the Game• Boston College outshot Northeastern, 15-11; however, NU held an 8-5 advantage in the second half.
• The Huskies out-cornered the Eagles, 5-3; Northeastern has now out-cornered its opponent in all seven matches this season.
