BROOKLINE, Mass. – Pushed to double overtime for the second time this season, the Northeastern men's soccer team fought its way to a 0-0 draw against Fairfield on Saturday night in front of a roaring crowd at Parsons Field.

Sophomore forward Khesanio Hall produced three shots on the evening, including the only two shots on goal of the night for the Huskies. Freshman Khori Bennett led the squad with four shot attempts, while sophomore Harry Swartz registered two shots during the match. The three Northeastern forwards combined for all nine of the Huskies' shot attempts.

Diego Casielles led Fairfield (1-1-3) with three shots, having one saved by NU goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson in the 89th minute. Justin Lewis and Kevin Byrne provided the remaining two shots on goal for the Stags, but Thuresson successfully stopped them both, finishing the game with three saves.

Bennett tried to put Northeastern (0-2-2) ahead early in the seventh minute with a bicycle kick, but his attempt floated wide right of the net. Shortly after, sophomore Ackim Mpofu was cautioned with a yellow card in the midfield, but Fairfield was unable to take advantage of the field position as the Huskies' defense won the ball back.

In his first game back from competing with the U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team, Andrew Lombard raced up the right side of the field in the 23rd minute, gaining Northeastern its third corner of the match. Bennett was able to head the ball on the ensuing corner, but his second shot of the night floated wide right.

Limiting Fairfield to just one shot on goal during the first half, the Huskies defense continued to hold off the Stags throughout the remainder of regulation. Northeastern's best chance to break the scoreless tie would come in the 64th minute. Hall would feed an exceptional pass to Bennett, who remained on side, but the freshmen's shot ultimately sailed high.

NU and Fairfield would each tally a shot during the two overtime periods, but neither shot landed on goal.

Northeastern will continue its three-game home stand on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m., when the Huskies host last year's national semifinalist, Providence.
