LAST TIME OUTÂ
Defense reigned supreme during Northeastern's Sept. 12 game against Fairfield as the Huskies and Stags were both held to single-digit shot attempts in a scoreless, double-overtime draw. NU forwards
Khori Bennett (four shots),
Khesanio Hall (three), and
Harry Swartz (two) combined for all nine of the Huskies' shot attempts, with Hall providing the only two shots on goal of the match for Northeastern. In his second start of the season, sophomore co-captain
Jonathan Thuresson made three saves en route to earning his fourth career shutout.
SCOUTING PROVIDENCEÂ
Following a 10-4-2 regular season in 2014, No. 11 Providence knocked off Dartmouth (W, 3-0), UC Irvine (W, 1-0), and No. 3 Michigan State (W, 3-2) on its way to its first ever appearance in the NCAA College Cup. Although the Friars received the No. 7 ranking in the NSCAA preseason poll, Providence has since dropped out of the top 25 as a result of back-to-back overtime home losses to Brown (L, 1-2, OT) and Columbia (L, 1-2, 2OT). Providence returns five starters from last year's squad, including Mac Steeves, who this season has already scored six of the Friars' eight goals.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE FRIARSÂ
Although Providence leads the all-time series against Northeastern, 14-3-2, the Huskies have carved out a point during three of their last four games against the Friars (2-1-1). Here is how NU has faired in its last five matchups against Providence:

AINSCOUGH COACHING CONNECTIONSÂ Northeastern head coach Brian Ainscough spent five years as Providence's head coach from 1995 to 1999. In 1998, Ainscough helped the Friars win nine games (9-9-1), the most the program had witnessed in more than a decade. He also guided Providence to its first BIG EAST tournament game since 1987, coming up on the short end of a 1-0 loss to Georgetown in the league quarterfinals.WHO NEEDS MORE TIME?Â
NU is undefeated in its last 19 overtime, regular-season matches (9-0-10), dating back to Nov. 5, 2011, when the Huskies were edged out on the road by William & Mary, 3-2, in the 99th minute. Including the postseason, Northeastern has secured at least a draw (prior to penalty kicks) in 21 of its last 23 matches.

Lombard received two starts during the camp: first in a 3-1 loss against Serbia's Under-19 squad on Sept. 3, and second in a 2-0 win during a placement match against Israel's Under-19 team on Sept. 7.

Khori Bennett combined for nine of Northeastern's 15 shots against California on Sept. 6, two first-half goals and another in the 82nd minute helped the Golden Bears coast to a 3-0 victory. Despite trailing the Golden Bears, 8-2, in shots following California's second goal in the 28th minute, the Huskies went on to outshoot California, 13-2, during the final 63 minutes of play. Sixteen different players appeared in the game for Northeastern, the most so far during the 2015 season.
