BOSTON – Despite a career-high 32 points from
David Walker, his third 30-point effort of the season, the Northeastern men's basketball fell 79-72 to Towson Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.
With the loss, the Huskies drop to 12-9 on the season and are now 4-4 in conference play. Towson improves to 14-7 on the year and 5-3 in CAA action.

Walker was very productive on the day for the Huskies as his 32 points came from 7-of-12 shooting, 5-of-7 from behind the arc. The senior connected on each of his first five treys on the day. He also went 13-for-14 from the free throw line, setting career highs in free throws and free throw attempts. Walker added five rebounds and two assists in 39 minutes of action.Â

Also in double figures on the day was
T.J. Williams who was back in the starting line up for the Huskies with
Quincy Ford out. Williams finished with a season-high 15 points and was 5-of-5 from the free throw line.

Zach Stahl finished with six points and eight boards on the day while
Devon Begley also added six.

Both teams went back-and-forth in the first half with three ties and six lead changes through the first 20 minutes of action. Towson jumped out to a six-point lead halfway through and maintained that lead until halftime, entering the locker rooms with a 25-19 advantage. The 19 points were a season low for the Huskies.

In the second half, Northeastern came out firing and after cutting the lead to just two points, via a
David Walker 3-pointer, forced Towson to call a timeout just 1:21 into play.

The Huskies earned a 30-29 advantage using two Williams free throws, but the Tigers responded with back-to-back buckets to take a four-point lead of their own.

After eight minutes of back and forth play, the Tigers used a 16-0 run over a five-minute stretch to take their largest lead of the ball game, 15 points, with 4:18 remaining in action. Over the course of the final four minutes of play there were a combined 20 fouls and 39 free throw shots by both teams.

Northeastern clawed their way back and cut the lead down to five, but with just seconds remaining the team was unable to get any closer.

Northeastern now heads back out on the road, where they are 3-1 in CAA play this season, for a Thursday night game at the College of Charleston at 7:30 p.m.
