Day one recap WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. – The Northeastern women's swimming and diving team had one of its best team outings of the season, placing second overall (1,030 points) and picked up two dual-meet victories at the Dartmouth Invitational, Jan. 22-23.
"This weekend's meet was our best performance of the season. I couldn't be prouder of our team," said head coach Roy Coates.Host Dartmouth won with 1,141 points. The Huskies took home dual-meet victories against Massachusetts, 238-115, and Boston College, 278.50-74.50. NU's lone loss was to the Big Green by five points, 179-174.
The Huskies added seven first-place finishes, another meet record and one pool record under their belt, totaling nine wins, three meet records and two pool records at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center on the weekend.
New records• NU opened the day with a win in the 200 medley relay with
Christine Leong,
Delaney Lanker,
Taylor Ellis and
Rachel Green tagging the wall in 1:46.51 – a new meet record, which was previously 1:47.29.
• Touchette-McGowan went on to gold in the 100 fly with a new pool record of 56.16 – the previous being 56.36.
• Ellis' top performance in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.42) ousted the previous meet record of 1:04.63.
Other highlights• Lanker won the 200 fly in 2:05.01.
• Leong swept the backstroke events with 57.78 (100 back) and 2:04.72 (200 back) on the clock.
