Goal Recaps
• Northeastern grabbed the lead at 3:04 of the first period when freshman
Codie Cross forced a turnover in the neutral zone, and sent the puck up the left-wing boards. After taking a deflection off the stick of junior
Halle Silva, the disc slid onto the stick of Hartman, who went forehand to backhand for her second goal in as many games.Â
• The Huskies doubled the advantage at 13:53 of the opening period on a beautiful passing play. Brand gathered the puck with speed on the right wing and sent a cross-ice pass to a streaking Krizova along the left boards. The Czech Republic native then lifted a saucer pass into the slot for a cutting Mottau, who shifted the puck past the Lindenwood goaltender to make it 2-0.
• Lindenwood scored its first goal of the weekend at the 7:49 mark of the second period when Kirsten Martin's shot found its way through traffic from the top of the zone on a power play.
• NU restored its two-goal cushion at 14:05 of the second stanza. After sustained pressure in the LU zone,
Matti Hartman found classmate
Paige Capistran cutting to the net between the circles. Capistran collected the feed and quickly fired a shot on goal that was stopped, but Anderson was able to dig out the loose puck and stash it home at the right of the cage to make it 3-1.Â
• The Huskies bumped the scoreline to 4-1 at 17:29 of the frame when senior
Melissa Haganey held the puck in along the right-wing boards and chipped the puck back into the low slot. Brand raced forward to meet the pass, before sniping a shot top-shelf to push the scoreline to 4-1.
