BOSTON – On the final day of the Steve Wright Classic, the Northeastern men's basketball team came away with an 80-72 victory over Maine at Case Gymnasium Sunday afternoon.

Five different Huskies finished with a double-digit scoring effort, the first time this season that has occurred while a pair of Huskies recorded double-doubles on the day.

Northeastern (3-2) was once again led by TJ Williams who had 26 points, on 7-of-11 shooting and 10-of-12 from the free throw line. Williams also notched 10 assists, a career-high, to mark his second career double-double and the first of the points and assists variety.

Freshman Bolden Brace came away with his first career double-double, netting 10 points, including seven in the final three minutes of action, and pulling down 10 rebounds on the day, both career-highs for the Santa Barbara native.

Devon Begley finished with 12 points, hitting three 3-pointers on the day, which tied his career-high mark.

Maine (1-3) was led by Wes Myers who had 19 points and four assists while Vincent Eze added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Jeremy Miller (10 points, seven rebounds) and Alex Murphy (11 points) teamed up to net Northeastern's first 10 points of the ballgame, with Miller starting things off on the day with a three ball, the second time this season he has registered the game's first basket.

With a 16-9 lead and 13:14 to play in the first half, Maine went on a 12-0 run to gain a 21-16 advantage over the Huskies holding them scoreless for a three-and-a-half-minute span. But the Huskies bounced back with a 10-0 run of their own, fueled by Williams' first points of the day and a deep three by Begley to regain the advantage.

Williams, who was held without a point for the first 11 minutes of action, notched 11 points in the final nine minutes, including seven in a row for Northeastern, to get the Huskies to the locker room with a 37-36 lead at halftime.

Northeastern came out gunning in the second half beginning things with a 10-2 run, including Begley's third trey of the game, tying his career best, which forced Maine to call a time out early in the second stanza.

Northeastern continued to add to the lead and notched back-to-back-to-back treys, with Occeus and Williams following Begley's lead to go up by as much as 13 with 14:25 left in the second half.

But as soon as the Huskies had the 13-point lead, Maine took it away going on a 13-0 run of their own and holding Northeastern scoreless for just over six minutes of the second half. After Maine evened the score at 53-all, Williams drove to the basket and converted an and-one, followed by an Occeus trey to jump back out to a six-point lead.

Maine tried to creep back into the game, getting as close as two points, but the Huskies hit their free throws down the stretch and added another three and a dunk off an alley-oop from Occeus to Murphy coming away with the 80-72 victory on the final day of the Steve Wright Classic.

The Huskies will have the week off for Thanksgiving break and will return to the court with their final non-conference home game of the year next Sunday, November 27 against Kent State at Matthews Arena at 2 p.m.
