BOSTON – No. 4/4 Boston University (4-2-1, 1-0-1) scored three goals in a span of seven minutes midway through the second period to skate to a 3-0 victory against the Northeastern men's ice hockey team (3-3-3, 0-2-1) on Saturday night at Agganis Arena.

Patrick Harper scored a pair of goals for the Terriers, while Kieffer Bellows also found the back of the net. Jake Oettinger (24 saves) and Connor LaCouvee (three saves) combined for the shutout, while Ryan Ruck made 20 saves at the other end.

The Huskies outshot BU 27-23 in the game, while neither club could capitalize on the man advantage with NU going 0-of-5 and the Terriers 0-of-2. Boston University dominated the face-off circle, winning 35-of-51 draws.

Goal descriptions:
• Boston University broke the stalemate midway through the contest on Harper's third of the year, finishing off some tic-tac-toe passing from the Terriers. As Greenway carried the puck down the ice, he saucered a pass across to Keller in the slot, who then made a quick touch pass over to Harper on the right side, who tapped it home for the score.

• The Terriers extended the lead to two just 32 seconds later on Bellows' third of the season. Following Charlie McAvoy's shot from the point that was stopped by Ruck, Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson pounded the rebound from the left side that Ruck also got a pad on, but Bellows was waiting on the doorstep to send the third opportunity home for a 2-0 BU lead.

• Harper gave the hosts a commanding 3-0 lead with 2:55 to play in the second period on his second of the evening. Jordan Greenway began the play with a cross-ice feed to Clayton Keller, whose one-timer from the right side was saved by Ruck, but Harper was stationed atop the crease waiting for the rebound, and roofed it over the shoulder of Ruck.

Stats of the game:
• Northeastern is now 58-162-9 all-time against Boston University.

• BU's three goal second period were the most Northeastern has allowed in any period of any game this season.

• Saturday was the first time that Boston University has shutout Northeastern since Mar. 9, 2013 (5-0).

The road ahead:
