BURLINGTON, Vt. –The Northeastern men's basketball team battled back from a 13-point halftime deficit to upset Vermont 59-57 Saturday afternoon at Patrick Gymnaisum.

Jeremy Miller laid in the eventual game-winning basket with 25 seconds left for Northeastern off of a feed from the top of the key from Alex Murphy, while Devon Begley stepped up on the ensuing possession and made a huge block on Trae Bell-Haynes' game-tying try under the basket to save the victory.

The Huskies (5-5) came out firing in the second half, finishing the stanza with a 68 percent shooting clip. After trading baskets with the Catamounts (7-4) over the first 15 minutes of action, Northeastern took a late 11-0 run, jumpstarted by a Bolden Brace 3-pointer, to regain their first lead in nearly 30 minutes.

Brace's trey was followed up by a pair of Murphy layups, the first of which gave the Huskies the lead, then a pair of Begley layups, and was capped off by a T.J. Williams three to give the Huskies a seven-point lead.

Vermont answered with a 7-0 run of their own to tie the game at 56-all with 42 seconds remaining, but Miller immediately answered with his game-winning layup and the two teams traded a free throw each en route to Northeastern's win.

Murphy finished with a game-high 21 points, nine rebounds and three blocks for the Huskies while Williams added 17 points and three assists. Begley finished with six points, six rebounds and four assists while Miller had six points on the night, including the game-winning basket, nine rebounds and three blocks in the win.

Bell-Haynes led the way for Vermont with 15 points and five assists, while Payton Henson added 13 and Kurt Steidl had 11 points of 3-of-5 shooting from behind the arc.

The Huskies got on the board first as Begley found Murphy in the lane to give the team a 2-0 lead, but Vermont would take their own 3-2 lead behind a Steidl trey, his first of three in the first half.

The Huskies regained a 7-5 advantage when Murphy hit from deep, but Vermont bounced back with another Steidl three and added to their lead to hold the Huskies to just 18 points in the first half, heading into the locker room with a 13-point advantage.

Murphy and Williams combined for 15 of Northeastern's 18 first half points.

The Huskies will round out their six game road trip next weekend when they travel to Michigan, first to take on Michigan State, Sunday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. followed by a Tuesday night meeting at Oakland, also at 7 p.m.
