BOSTON – T.J. Williams hit the 1,000-point mark, Alex Murphy, Devon Begley, and Anthony Green had career days and the Northeastern men's basketball team earned a hard-fought, unrelenting 20-pt win over William & Mary Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.

Though just nine Huskies were dressed for the CAA opener, Northeastern jumped out to a big lead in the first half using a 23-2 run over a six-minute span to head to the locker room with a 50-26 advantage.

Begley started things off with a layup and the Huskies never gave up the lead in the wire-to-wire victory, Northeastern's biggest win over William & Mary in program history.

The Huskies have now won four-straight and have also won four-straight CAA openers improving to 7-4 all-time in the first game of conference play.

The Huskies finished shooting 57.1 percent from the field, including a 62.5 percent clip in the first half. Leading the way was Murphy who finished with a career-high tying 24 points, on 9-of-13 shooting, 5-of-6 from behind the arc. The five made threes were a career best for the grad student.

Also with career days were Begley and Green. Begley who had his first career 20-point game, finishing with 21, while also pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out five assists. Green had the near double-double finishing with a career best 13 points and nine rebounds, including five offensive boards. He also netted two steals and one huge block.

T.J. Williams netted the 1,000 and 1,001 points of his career on a layup with 4:59 remaining in the first half making him the 37th Husky to cross the 1,000-point threshold. With his 16 points, as well as six rebounds and six assists, today he currently has 1,009 in his career which ranks 37th all-time.

Daniel Dixon led the way for William & Mary, finishing with 19 points while Jack Whitman had 15 points and five rebounds on 6-of-7 shooting.

The two teams were neck and neck for the first five minutes of action before Northeastern started to inch away using fast 6-0 and 5-0 spurts. But following a dunk by Whitman at the 8:47 mark, the Huskies held William & Mary to just one basket in a six-minute span, allowing them only five shots and forcing seven turnovers en route to a 31-point lead.

The Tribe came out in the second half, outscoring the Huskies 17-8 in the first seven-and-a-half-minutes of action, but Northeastern bounced back as Begley and Murphy traded four 3-pointers in a row to regain a 23-point advantage and go on for the win.

The Huskies have a busy week ahead of them as they head out to play Drexel in Philadelphia on Monday at 4:30 p.m. The brief road stint is followed by a pair of home games to round the week out against Delaware, Thursday night at 7 p.m. on ASN, and Saturday night at 7 p.m. against James Madison with both games coming at Matthews Arena.
