HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – A late surge made it a two-point ball game with 33 seconds to play, but Hofstra hung on to outlast the Northeastern men's basketball team 65-60 Sunday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex.

The Huskies drop to 15-14 on the season and 7-9 in CAA action with the loss while Hofstra earns its 20th win of the year and improves to 12-4 in conference play.

Northeastern had a trio of double-digit scorers in the game with Quincy Ford and David Walker leading the way with 15-apiece. Caleb Donnelly added 12 via four 3-pointers including two big shots down the stretch to give the Huskies a chance.

Along with Ford's 15 points, the redshirt senior pulled down 14 rebounds, marking his fifth double-double of the season and ninth career.

Playing in his 129th career game, a school record, Walker's first basket of the game, a three late in the first half, set another school record, this time for the most 3-pointers in a single season with 84 (at the time), besting Joel Smith's 83 3-point effort set during the 2012-13 season. Smith accomplished the feat in 31 games, Walker in 29. Walker finished the game with four treys and currently has 87 on the year.

Denton Koon paced the Pride with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Rokas Gustys finished with 17 points and 16 boards on the day.

Donnelly started off hot for the Huskies, beginning the game with a three and helping to extend the Northeastern lead to six early on with a three deep in the corner to give the Huskies an 11-5 lead.

Hofstra used a 11-0 run, started off by a Gustys dunk, to take a 20-13 lead as the Huskies went 0-for-8 from the field and had four turnovers during that time frame.

A record-setting, David Walker three snapped a seven-minute cold streak for the Huskies and brought Northeastern to within four at 20-16 with 5:41 left in the first half.

But Hofstra responded by rallying off six straight points and taking a 33-22 lead into halftime.

Northeastern came out strong in the second half making back-to-back threes via Walker and Miller to cut the lead to single digits. Ford followed that effort up by recording four straight baskets to cut the lead to just three, forcing the Pride to call a timeout with 12:46 remaining in the game.

Hofstra rebuilt the lead to eight, before the Huskies used another run, behind back-to-back buckets by Walker, followed by a Jeremy Miller trey to cut the lead to two with five minutes remaining. The teams traded baskets and Donnelly hit his back-to-back threes, but it wasn't enough as Hofstra held on to complete the season sweep.

The Huskies look to bounce back when they return to Matthews Arena for the final time during the 2015-16 season when they take on College of Charleston on Senior Day Thursday, February 25 at 7 p.m. Northeastern will honor its four seniors at the start of Thursday night's game.
