BOSTON, Mass. – Jeremy Miller notched a career-high 23 points and David Walker made his way into the top-10 on the Northeastern career scoring chart, but it was not enough as the Northeastern men's basketball team fell 86-77 to William & Mary Thursday night.

The loss was the fifth straight for the Huskies who fall to 12-12 on the season and 4-7 in conference action. William & Mary improves to 16-6 on the year and 8-3 in the conference.

Miller's 23 points were a career-best and the first time he has crossed the 20-point threshold in his young career. The 23 points came in 19 minutes of action on a career best 9-of-12 shooting, 4-of-6 from deep.

Walker finished with 19 points and in doing so moved into the top-10 on the Northeastern career scoring chart, past Marcus Blossom, with his 1,484 career points at Northeastern. He also dished out eight assists and pulled down seven boards on the night.

Twelve of Walker's points came from 3-point land as he added four treys to his career total moving past Matt Janning and into third place all-time on the career 3-point field goal chart with 226 career threes. His 73 threes through 24 games are also a school record.

The Huskies connected on 12 threes on the night, the 13th time they have recorded 10+ treys in a single game on the season, becoming the 10th team in the NCAA to do so this year.

William & Mary was led by Omar Prewitt who finished with a game-high 28 points and five rebounds. The Huskies held Terry Tarpey to six points, but he was able to pull down a game-high 11 rebounds on the night.

After putting the first points of the night on the board via a Zach Stahl layup, Northeastern was 3-of-17 from the field for the next 11 minutes of play, but used free throws to keep itself in the ball game.

Down, 19-13, Miller rallied off three straight shots to make it a 24-19 ball game and jumpstarted a stretch of 5-of-5 shooting from the field and a 7-0 Northeastern run to tie the game at 24-all. After William & Mary went ahead on a layup, the Huskies, via a Miller 3-pointer took the lead and added on heading into halftime with a 37-31 advantage.

Northeastern added on to the halftime advantage and, notching the first four points of the second half, including a Caleb Donnelly 3-pointer, took a 10-point lead. But, like the previous two games, William & Mary chipped into that lead and tied the ball game up at 45-all with 15:25 left in the second half.

The two teams battled back and forth and had a tie and six different lead changes over the next five minutes of action, but once the Tribe went on top via a David Cohn layup with 10:55 left in the game, they stayed on top for the remainder of the ball game.

The Huskies made things interesting down the stretch, and a Miller trey from the corner cut into the lead late, but William & Mary withstood the pressure to earn the victory.

The Huskies are back at Matthews on Saturday night when they take on first place UNCW at 7 p.m.
