The One Love Foundation honors Yeardley Love, a former University of Virginia lacrosse student-athlete who died on May 3, 2010, after being beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend.

BOSTON – From Monday, April 11 through Saturday, April 23, The Northeastern Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, in collaboration with the NU men's club lacrosse team, is participating in the One Love Foundation's national "Yards for Yeardley" movement, geared toward sexual violence awareness and prevention.

This is the first year NU SAAC is bringing the campaign to campus after being inspired by fellow Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) member Hofstra, who's SAAC shared the campaign at the CAA SAAC Leadership Summit in November.

"We appreciate all the support from coaches, strength and conditioning and student-athletes in making this project a reality," said SAAC co-president Jacquelyn Garruto.

What is the One Love Foundation?
The One Love Foundation honors Yeardley Love, a former University of Virginia lacrosse student-athlete who died on May 3, 2010, after being beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend. The One Love Foundation strives to end relationship violence through education, empowerment and activation across campus communities, including Northeastern.

What is Yards for Yeardley?
Yards for Yeardley is a One Love movement to raise awareness about the warning signs of abuse and activate communities to work to change the statistics around relationship violence.

Goal
The goal is to log 1,000,000 yards or more collectively in the next two weeks through physical activity such as running, swimming, skating, rowing, walking, etc. Through participation, the overall goal is to raise awareness and open dialogue about the campaign, One Love, and its core mission.

What to do
Participation is open to all, including friends and family of NU, faculty and administration.

E-mail Garruto (Garruto.j@husky.neu.edu) with how much you run, swim, skate, row, etc. in miles, steps, or yardage on Saturday, April 16 (first log) and Saturday, April 23 (last log).

You may also email your workout plan, along with number of participants, and NU SAAC will calculate the total yards.

Any extra or personal workouts can be included.

Join the One Love @ Northeastern team to show your support.
