BROOKLINE, Mass. – Junior
Hannah Lopiccolo and senior
Breeana Koemans scored three minutes apart early in the first half to help the Northeastern women's soccer team (5-4-1) to a hard-fought 2-1 win over New Hampshire (3-4-2) on Sunday at Parsons Field.
Junior
Kayla Cappuzzo assisted on both goals to give her eight points (three goals and two assists) over the last four matches.Â
Sophomore
Nathalie Nidetch stopped five shots in the first half, before giving way at halftime to redshirt junior
Jill Quinn, who made three important stops in the second stanza to preserve the scoreline. Quinn's biggest save came just minutes into the second half when she went to ground to deny Liz Lane at the top of the box on a partial breakaway.
Northeastern had a chance to add an insurance tally when a penalty kick was awarded in the 86th minute, but UNH keeper Mimi Borkan (six saves) denied Koemans' bid for a second goal.Â
Goal Recaps
• Lopiccolo gave Northeastern the lead inside 10 minutes when she controlled a Cappuzzo cross from the left wing and blasted a shot inside the left post from close range at the right of the net.Â

• UNH cut the score to 2-1 in the waning minutes of the first half when Brooke Murphy curled a free kick inside the left post from just outside the top of the box.
