ALL-TIME AGAINST UNCW
Â
Northeastern's 2016 victory against UNCW on Senior Night at Parsons Field brought the Huskies one step closer to leveling the all-time series against the Seahawks. NU will enter Saturday's match trailing UNCW, 6-5-3, during the two programs' previous 14 meetings.
Â
LAST MEETING
Â
The Huskies needed less than 10 minutes to stage the one (and only) goal of the two sides' Oct. 22, 2016, meeting at Parsons Field.
Gaku Lange cleaned up the rebound from
Daniel Arvidsson's strike during the eighth minute, providing Northeastern with a 1-0 lead it did not relinquish during the remainder of the match. NU doubled up UNCW, 6-3, in shots on target, despite tallying only 13 total attempts to Seahawks' 16.
Jonathan Thuresson recorded his fifth and final clean sheet of the 2016 season, registering three saves.
Â
NU WINS PENALTY-LADEN AFFAIR
Â
Northeastern relied on
Khori Bennett's penalty-kick precision to collect the 3-2 victory against Vermont on Oct. 24 during the Huskies' regular-season finale at Parsons Field. Bennett netted two of the three combined penalty kick goals within the match, powering his strikes through during the 32nd and 100th minutes – the latter of which lifted NU to its third extra-time victory of the 2017 season.
Dan Munch recorded the Huskies' middle goal during the 68th minute, finishing Bennett's blocked shot to put Northeastern ahead, 2-1. Rookie goalkeeper
Noah Abrams made five saves en route to earning the first victory of his collegiate career.
Â
THE HUSKIES' SEASON TALLY
Â
Khori Bennett's two-goal effort on Oct. 24 catapulted the junior striker into a tie for the squad's points lead (seven) with
Harry Swartz. Bennett and Swartz have each recorded three goals and been credited with one assist apiece.
Dan Munch's middle goal from the Huskies' Oct. 24 victory ascended the freshman into sole possession of third place on Northeastern's point sheet (five), allowing him to leapfrog four-point NU veterans
Martin Nygaard (two goals) and
Lewis Aird (four assists).
