NORTHEASTERN vs. BOSTON UNIVERSITY STORYLINES:
• Both Northeastern and Boston University will be looking for their first wins of the season this weekend. The No. 8 Huskies battled to a 1-1 tie against No. 1 Clarkson on Sept. 29, before falling to the Golden Knights, 5-1, the following day. BU dropped its only game of the opening weekend by a 2-1 score to Merrimack.
• Senior captain
Shelby Herrington led NU with two points during the opening weekend vs. Clarkson, recording a goal in Friday's 1-1 tie and an assist in Saturday's 5-1 setback.
• Two Huskies notched their first collegiate points last weekend vs. Clarkson. Freshman defenseman
Skylar Fontaine netted her first goal in a Northeastern uniform, while fellow rookie blue-liner
Brooke Hobson recorded an assist on the play.
• Fontaine and Hobson were two of six new faces to debut for Northeastern last weekend, joining
Veronika Pettey,
Tessa Ward,
Tori Sullivan and goaltender
Aerin Frankel, who stopped 13 of 14 Clarkson shots in her collegiate debut on Sept. 30.
• The last time Northeastern faced BU, the Huskies emerged with a 2-1 victory in the 2017 WHEA Semifinals at Walter Brown Arena. The Terriers held a 1-0 lead late in the third period, before two Northeastern goals in a span of 2:59 turned the tides.
Codie Cross netted the eventual game-winner with a power-play goal at 19:13 of the third period to send the Red & Black to the league championship game.
• This weekend's matchup features the top two active career scorers in Hockey East in BU's Victoria Bach and Northeastern's
Denisa Krizova. Bach has recorded 90 points in 69 career WHEA games, while Krizova is right on her heels with 89 career points in 63 WHEA contests. Krizova has 16 points in 14 career games vs. Boston University and has recorded at least a point in each of her last eight contests against the Terriers.
• Krizova enters the weekend as the 10th-highest scorer in program history with 139 career points in 106 games. With five more points, the Czech Republic native will leap Jill Toney (143 points) for ninth place in the record books.
• For the third straight week, Northeastern was ranked as the No. 8 team in the nation in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey national polls. The No. 8 preseason ranking represented the Huskies' highest position to open a year since 2000-01 when NU was slotted at No. 7.
