CHARLESTON, S.C. – Despite four different Huskies registering double-figures and all 11 Huskies getting on the board, the Northeastern men's basketball team fell 82-66 Thursday night at the College of Charleston.

The Huskies (10-7, 3-2 CAA) and Cougars (12-5, 3-2) were neck-and-neck for much of the first half, but a late 7-0 run helped Charleston to a 10-point halftime lead. In the second half, the Charleston defense locked down the Huskies for five minutes as the Cougars built up their 16-point lead for the win.

Vasa Pusica led the Huskies with 15 points and six assists, his seventh-straight game with 4+ assists, while also going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Bolden Brace added 13 points on a 3-of-5 effort from deep and a pair of steals while Shawn Occeus and Tomas Murphy each chipped in 10 points on the night.

Charleston was led by Jarrell Brantley's 22 points and six rebounds while Joe Chealey added 16 points, the majority of which came from the free throw line, and Grant Riller and Jaylen McManus each added 12.

FIRST HALF
The Huskies came out strong, thanks in part to Anthony Green who recorded not only the first basket of the game with a nice move under the basket, but five of the Huskies' first seven points of the game.

The next four Huskies baskets came from deep from the likes of Donnell Gresham, Pusica, Occeus and Brace as the Huskies took a 19-18 lead on Brace's trey from the corner.

Charleston took control just a few minutes later as a pair of threes from McManus and a handful of baskets from Riller and Brantley bolstered a 7-0 run to get the Cougars out to a 38-30 lead. Charleston made 12-of-13 baskets to ultimately gain their largest lead of the game, 44-32, with just over a minute to go in the first half before a Murphy jumper cut that lead to ten at the half.

The Cougars finished the first half shooting an outstanding 70.8 from the field missing just seven times in 24 attempts. The Huskies were 13-of-27 during the same stanza with five treys.

SECOND HALF
The two teams got out to a back-and-forth start to the half that saw five points from Pusica, including a three and a pair of free throws.

After back-to-back baskets from Murphy and Brace, Charleston called its first timeout of the night with the Huskies within eight, 56-48. Charleston responded with a couple buckets, and Brace paced the Northeastern offense scoring eight-straight Husky points.

Each time the Huskies got close, Charleston answered. The Huskies got within eight, and the Cougars answered with a pair of free throws. Pusica tallied two free throws of his own and Marquise Pointer hit a three.

Pusica responded, and Brantley drove to the basket to once again make it a 10-point game. And then the Charleston defense kept the Huskies at bay for over five minutes, ultimately making it a 16-point game, before Devon Begley was able to end the drought with a pair of free throws.

UP NEXT
The Huskies will look to bounce back on Saturday night as they get back on the road tomorrow when they travel to Wilmington for a meeting with the Seahawks at 7 p.m.
