NCAA TOURNAMENT REMATCH IN STORE
After an unbeaten opening weekend against Boston University, the No. 9 Northeastern women's hockey team (1-0-1) will face its first top-10 test of the year as No. 8/7 Colgate (2-2-0) visits Matthews Arena for a pair of games. The showdown will be a rematch of the 2018 NCAA quarterfinals, in which Colgate prevailed by a 3-1 score en route to an appearance in the Frozen Four, and eventually, the national championship game.

Colgate has won the last three meetings against Northeastern –- all of which came last season in Hamilton, N.Y.

FRANKEL, FOOTE EARN WHEA WEEKLY AWARDS
On Monday, sophomore goaltender Aerin Frankel was named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, while freshman defender Gillian Foote was honored as the league's Rookie of the Week.

Frankel stopped 28 shots to shutout BU in the season opener, becoming the first NU netminder since Florence Schelling in 2011 to blank the Terriers. Playing in her first two collegiate games, Foote tallied three power-play assists over the weekend, including two helpers in Friday's 5-0 win.

SPECIAL-TEAMS SHINE
Northeastern opened the season firing on all cylinders on both the power-play and the penalty-kill. The Huskies scored four power-play goals in nine chances (44.4%) against the Terriers, and killed off eight of nine BU power-plays (88.8%) at the other end. Freshman Chloe Aurard also netted a shorthanded goal in Friday's game for her first collegiate point.

The Huskies' power-play will be put to the test this weekend against a Colgate penalty-kill that ranked fifth in the nation last year at 89.4%.

DEFENSE INTO OFFENSE
The Huskies received scoring contributions from  six different defensive players in last weekend's series against BU. Gillian Foote (three assists) and Brooke Hobson (goal, two assists) each notched three points, while defenders Skylar Fontaine (goal), Maddie Hartman (assist) and Codie Cross (assist) each got on the scoresheet. In addition, goaltender Aerin Frankel recorded her first collegiate assist with a helper on Fontaine's goal on Friday vs. the Terriers.

FANTASTIC FRANKEL
Despite a sample size of only 23 career games, sophomore goaltender Aerin Frankel continues to rise on Northeastern's goaltending charts. After shutting out BU last weekend, Frankel lowered her career GAA to 1.83, which is currently the second-best mark in program history behind Florence Schelling's 1.74 career GAA in 98 collegiate games. Frankel's career .937 save percentage also ranks second behind Schelling's .940 collegiate mark.

FRESHMEN FIREPOWER
Northeastern's freshmen made a big impact in their first collegiate action last weekend. Hockey East's Rookie of the Week, Gillian Foote led the charge with three assists, while forwards Alina Mueller and Chloe Aurard each tallied a goal and an assist.

Mueller and Aurard skated on a line with senior Kasidy Anderson last weekend and the trio combined for four goals, two assists and 26 of the team's 71 shots on goal (37%).

PETTEY PICKS UP WHERE SHE LEFT OFF
After earning a spot on the WHEA All-Rookie Team with 27 points as a freshman last year, forward Veronika Pettey opened her sophomore account with four points in two games vs. BU last weekend. Pettey netted a power-play goal and an assist in each game to pace the Huskies with four points in the early stages of the season.

BUGALSKI THE BRICK WALL
Senior captain Brittany Bugalski made 34 stops on Saturday at BU to move into 7th place all-time at Northeastern with 2,064 career saves. Bugalski passed Leah Sulyma (2,042 saves) for 7th place and now will take aim at Shannon Meyers in 6th place with 2,215 total saves. In total, Bugalski would need to make 745 more stops to break Chloe Desjardins' program record of 2,808 career saves.
