Recap
CHARLESTON, S.C.– Every Northeastern men's basketball player got into the game, and each of them scored, led by
Bolden Brace's 12 points, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies fell to Davidson 71-59 Sunday night in the finale of the Gildan Charleston Classic.
With Brace's 12 point effort, Northeastern extended its double-digit scoring streak to 400-straight games, dating back to the 2005-06 season.
The two teams headed into the locker rooms tied at 28-all, but the Wildcats broke out early in the second half, thanks to a 17-point effort by Luka Brajokovic, 14 of which came in the second frame.
FIRST HALF
Northeastern and Davidson fought back-and-forth for the majority of the first half and after the first 20 minutes of action, the score remained – tied, 28-28 heading into the half.
The Wildcats kept a slight lead for the first part of the half, until Brace turned on the jets following the U12 media timeout netting seven of his nine first half points to give the Huskies an 18-17 lead.
Davidson regained the lead 28-26 with 47 seconds left, and thanks to an offensive board, the Huskies were able to run the clock down heading into halftime. At the buzzer,
Vasa Pusica spun and eurostepped his way to the basket to even the score at 28-all after the first 20 minutes of play.
SECOND HALF
Anthony Green started the second half off with three-straight slams, including a posterizing dunk to start the frame.
Following those jams, Davidson really opened up the scoring, breaking out on a 15-3 run in a three-minute span to earn a 53-37 lead. A trio of 3-pointers from
Jason Strong brought the Huskies back into the game down the stretch, but Davidson was able to stave off the Northeastern attack and come away with the win.
