BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team will close out its six-game road trip on Wednesday night when the team heads to Lewisburg for the first time in program history, to face off against Bucknell.
The two teams will meet for the second time ever, the first coming last year at Matthews Arena, at 7 p.m. on the Patriot League Network.
Heading into Wednesday's game, here are a few things to look for.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- HUSKIES VS. BISON
- For the second time in program history, Northeastern and Bucknell will square off against each other, this time on the campus of Bucknell
- Last time out against the Bison, Northeastern came away with an 18-point victory with the Huskies' defeating the Bison on a Tuesday night at Matthews Arena
SCOUTING THE BISON
- Bucknell is off to a 2-2 start to the season, winning a pair of road games against some tough opponents, but falling twice at home to begin the season
- Bucknell started the year off with an 88-85 overtime victory at St. Bonaventure, and took down America East favorite Vermont 69-61 on the road on Sunday
- The Bison's two home losses came against Fairfield in their home opener, 60-58 and to Canisius three days later, 82-73
LEADING THE WAY
- Bucknell is led by Kimbal Mackenzie who has played and started all four games for the Bison, averaging 18.0 ppg while knocking down 12 threes on the year
- In addition to Mackenzie, Nate Sestina is averaging 17.5 ppg and leading the way with 13.0 rpg while Jimmy Sotos has tallied 12.3 ppg and 17 assists and Paul Newman has put up 10.3 ppg with a .536 FG%
- Newman also leads the way with 10 blocks this season
- They see him Roland…
- Jordan Roland truly kicked off his Northeastern career against Harvard (Nov. 9) when he had a night against the Crimson, finishing with 35 points, including seven treys
- The last time out, against Davidson, Roland found himself on fire against the Wildcats, with a 23-point, six 3FG game
- That got us thinking... how many people have had at least six threes in one game, and six or more in another in the same season
- Turns out, Northeastern basketball players are pretty good at doing that

* - Was a school record before Brace's 10 3FG night
- Both J.J. Barea and Marcus Barnes achieved the feat three times in the same 2003-04 season, with Barnes becoming the first to ever do it, completing the task by Jan. 2 (or 12 games into the season)
- Roland becomes the fastest Husky to ever do it, achieving the feat just six games into the season
- He also joins Brace as the only Huskies to complete both such games on the road
- Last time out
- The last time out the Huskies headed back down south for a rematch with Davidson on Saturday, Nov. 24, facing the Wildcats for the second time in six days
- The two teams started out back-and-forth, until the Wildcats got out to a sizable lead before halftme
- The lead grew slightly in the second half, but the Huskies trimmed that down thanks to the stellar play of Jordan Roland and made it a three-point game down the stretch
- Davidson was able to hit their free throws, and the Huskies were unable to get a game-tying basket to connect, as the Wildcats came away with another victory over Northeastern this season, 78-69
