BOSTON -- After one of the most successful seasons in program history, the Northeastern track & field team started their 2018-19 season with 15 NEICAAA and 26 IC4A/ECAC qualifying finishes at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Boston University Season Opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Howlin' Huskies' success was highlighted by four first place finishes and 17 top five finishes. Additionally, NU recorded 14 personal best performances across the board.
Naukym Morton dominated the sprints with a 6.85 finish in the 60m for first place. Other sprint finishes included
Dametrius O'Connor (21.90),
David Adams (22.18 PR) and
Quinn Litherland (22.41), who took fourth, fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the 200m and all qualified for the IC4A/ECACs.
Patrice Williams ran her first 300m race for a third place finish with a time of 39.06.
Amy Piccolo experienced an emotional first place finish in the 800m, with her personal best time of 2:09.83.
Controlling the throwing pit was
Priscilla Senoo who finished first in the shotput (13.87m) and
Monae Cooper who took first place in the weight throw (17.78m).
Zoe Taitel trailed Senoo slightly to take second place in the shotput (13.87m PR) while
Erica Belvit finished third in the weight throw (16.75m).
Jumps saw a strong showing with two women finishing fourth in their respective events.
Paige Suse recorded a 1.70m in the high jump, qualifying her for IC4A/ECAC annd NEICAAA and
Khailah Griffin finished the long jump with 5.49m.
Phillips Magre (2.00m) and Ugoanna Anuonyemere (1.85m) flexed talent in the high jump with second and fifth place finishes, respectively.
Finally, distance runners changed their record books wiht freshman,
Alexander Korczynski finishing in the top-10 for the 3000m with a time of 8:26.63.
Dan Romano (14:34.30 PR) and
Cameron Dickson (14:36.7 PR) recorded NEICAAA and IC4A/ECAC qualifying times in the 5000m. On the women's side,
Bridget Foote (16:56.56) ,
Camila Cortina (17:24.82) and
Louise Holway (17:57.13) tabbed personal record-breaking times in the 5000m, with all three making time to attend the NEICAAAs later this season.
