STORYLINES FOR THE 40th WOMEN'S BEANPOT TOURNAMENT

• Northeastern begins its pursuit of a record 17th Women's Beanpot title on Tuesday against BC. Harvard is second with 14 Beanpot titles, BC is third with seven, and BU and Brown are tied for fourth with one crown apiece (Brown competed in place of BU in 1993).

• Including 2018, the Huskies and Eagles have met in each of the last seven Beanpots, including matchups in the championship game in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

• The Huskies have advanced to the Beanpot final in five of the last six seasons, including championships in 2012 (4-3 over BU) and 2013 (4-3 over BC).

• The last time the Beanpot was played at BC (2014), Northeastern also entered with a .500 record (12-12-2) and proceeded to beat No. 3 Harvard in the opening round.

• Northeastern and BC have met three times already this season with the Eagles holding a 2-1-0 edge. Boston College won 7-3 at home on Nov. 28, and 5-4 in overtime at Matthews Arena on Jan. 13, while NU claimed a 4-2 victory at Kelley Rink on Jan. 12.

• The Huskies' 4-2 win at BC on Jan. 12 was only the Eagles' second loss at home in their last 84 games (77-2-5). BC's only two defeats during that span have come against Northeastern, with the other loss coming on Feb. 10, 2017.

• Northeastern enters Tuesday's matchup on the heels of a three-game losing streak. The last two times NU entered the tournament coming off a loss, the Huskies proceeded to win the Beanpot championship (2012 and 2013).

• Playing the nation's toughest schedule (according to USCHO.com), Northeastern is 2-5-1 against top-10 opponents this season. The Huskies have earned wins over No. 1 Wisconsin (3-2) and No. 2 Boston College (4-2), as well as a tie vs. No. 1 Clarkson (1-1).

• The Huskies are 11-0-2 when scoring first this season, compared to 2-13-1 when their opponent strikes first.

• Northeastern owns the fourth-best power-play in the country among qualifying D-I teams (22.2 percent). The Huskies have scored with the numerical advantage in three straight games.
