BOSTON – Northeastern women's hockey head coach
Dave Flint announced Friday that senior goaltender
Brittany Bugalski will serve as the Huskies' captain in 2018-19, while senior forward
Kasidy Anderson, senior defender
Maddie Hartman and junior forward
Andrea Renner will serve as alternate captains.
Â
"I am pleased with our leadership group this upcoming season," Flint explained. "All four players have different strengths that I feel will mesh well together and keep the program moving in the right direction."
Â
Bugalski enters her final season on Huntington Avenue with the title of the most experienced goaltender on the squad. Last season, Bugalski became the eighth netminder in program history to surpass 2,000 career saves, and comes into her senior campaign fourth on the program's all-time wins list (50) and sixth in career minutes played (4,897). Bugalski is the first NU goaltender to be named team captain since
Sarah Foss wore the "C" in 2016-17.
Â
Anderson begins her fourth year on the team after finishing last season as the team's third-highest scorer with 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists. Last season the forward locked down five power-play goals and tied for the team lead with 11 goals in Hockey East play.
Â
Hartman enters the 2018-19 season with 107 games of collegiate experience under her belt. The senior defender skated in 37 games last season, recording a total of five points with one goal and four assists.
Â
Renner heads into her third collegiate season after appearing in 69 games as a freshman and a sophomore. The junior tallied 11 points last season with six goals and five assists. Renner scored Northeastern's only goal in last year's NCAA tournament game against No. 3 Colgate and was named the Hockey East Player of the Week on March 12.
Â
The Huskies will kick off the regular season at home against Boston University on Friday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m.
