Postmatch Interview
BROOKLINE, Mass. – Keeping pace with Syracuse through the majority of Sunday's match at Parsons Field, the Northeastern women's soccer team turned in a 15-12 advantage in shot attempts against its ACC opponent, despite succumbing to the Orange, 1-0, courtesy of Georgia Allen's 83rd-minute goal.
Â
Northeastern (2-4-0) entered halftime with an 8-5 edge in total shot attempts, creating a couple of scoring chances during the first half hour. Thirteen minutes into the match,
Hannah Rosenblatt charted the Huskies' first shot on target, following
Chelsea Domond's second effort with a spinning try from 10 yards away that was easily picked up by Jordan Harris.
Â
Eve Goulet nearly put Northeastern ahead during the 24th minute, heading
Mikenna McManus' corner from the left flag on target, resulting in a team save that was made by Taylor Bennett.
Â
Nathalie Nidetch denied Syracuse (3-2-0) with a diving save during the opening minutes of the second half, stifling Mackenzie Vlachos while notching her second of three saves during the match. Nidetch hauled in Kate Donovan's attempt during the 79th minute, but was unable to stop Allen's knuckling volley from the top of the 18-yard box four minutes later.
Â
McManus' 35-yard ball during the 77th minute stood as the Huskies' best scoring opportunity of the day, deflecting off Lysianne Proulx's fists in net, off the crossbar, and out.
