NEWARK, Del. – Led by reserve forwards
Katarina Nilsson and
Nicole Gorman, the Northeastern women's soccer team chalked three points onto its CAA tally upon exiting Thursday's league opener at Delaware as the Huskies prevailed, 2-1, against the Blue Hens at Stuart & Suzanne Grant Stadium.

Northeastern (4-6-3, 1-0-0 CAA) held the attacking edge during the first half (5-2 shot margin), despite having to wait until the final minute to break through with the first goal of the match.

With 1:04 remaining before the intermission,
Grace Moore fired a 40-yard free kick from the right side to the back post, where
Eve Goulet headed her centering ball to Nilsson. Upon playing one touch off her body, Nilsson beat goalkeeper Cali Loeffler at point-blank range for the sophomore's first collegiate goal (her 15th Northeastern appearance).

Delaware (1-7-1, 0-1-0 CAA) charged back immediately after halftime, leveling the match during the 52nd minute. Riley Dixon's entry cross from the left side was punched out by
Nathalie Nidetch and landed directly into the possession of Dani Kabat, who laced the one-timer to the right corner to knot the match at 1-1.

Within 15 minutes, the Huskies had regained their one-goal advantage.
Hannah Rosenblatt received a right-side pass from Moore and curled into Northeastern's 18-yard box, where she was taken down by Jessica Kennett's penalty. Rosenblatt proceeded to score the eventual match-winning goal from the penalty dot during the 64th minute – her CAA leading, sixth goal of the season and the 28th goal of her career.
Nilsson and Gorman combined to yield six of the Huskies' 10 total attempts and four of their five shots on target.
