Smithfield, R.I. -- The men and women cross country teams took first and second place, respectively, on Saturday afternoon at the Nassaney Invitational.
The men's varsity team led the 8k race with an average time of 25:29 and 36 points for first place. Leading the pack was senior,
Dan Romano, who ran with a time of 25:00.7, taking second place overall. Close behind him were
Cameron Dickson (25:24.9) and
Brian Keller (25:34.1).
The women's team showed equivalent success in their 5k race, placing second with 75 points and an 18:34 average time.
Louiza Wise was the first Husky across the finish line at 17:54.3 in fifth place. Newcomer Bridget Foote came in ninth at 18:21.8 with
Camila Cortina close behind at 18:25.9.
NU's men's JV team took the top four spots in their 8k race. Freshman
Zachary Jarnagin ran a 26:20.6 for first place. He was immediately followed by Steven Flanagan (26:27.1),
Anthony Hurgoi (26:47.6) and
Tucker McNinch (26:50.3).
