LOWELL, Mass. – Attempting to knock off a ranked UMass Lowell side for the second consecutive year, the Northeastern men's soccer team outshot the No. 22 River Hawks, 10-8, on Sunday night at Cushing Field, despite finishing on the wrong side of the competition's 1-0 result.

Tyler Welch provided Northeastern (1-4-0) with a burst of activity along the right wing, registering two shots to lead the Huskies' starting XI. The freshman forward nearly leveled the match during the 79th minute, firing a shot across the box that traveled just wide of the left post.

Dan Munch equaled Welch's two attempts during his 31 reserve minutes, powering Northeastern's lone shot on target during the 43rd minute.

UMass Lowell (5-0-1) jumped on top during the 22nd minute, when Ivan Blaskic played a through ball ahead to Stanley Alves, who made one touch to himself at the top of the River Hawks' 18-yard box before threading the eventual match-winner through the right post.

Northeastern attempted five of its 10 shots during the final 20 minutes of the second half, where the Huskies have outscored opponents, 6-2, this season. Three NU players also made their collegiate debuts on Sunday: goalkeeper
