Track finishes third and fourth at Harvard

The women's third place performance was highlighted by two PRs and five season bests.

Cambridge, Mass. – The Northeastern track and field team had an impressive showing at the Harvard Multi and Beantown Challenge over the weekend with the women finishing third and the men, fourth.
 
On Friday, Julia Marshall and Hannah Meredith competed in the pentathalon among a 17-athlete field placing third and fourteenth, respectively. Marshall's strength in the 800m (2:30.33) and shot put (9.78m) gave her the push for a top-three finish.
 
On the men's side, Kurt Robakiewicz, Mark Puglia and Hayden Kilpatrick finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
Saturday began the Beantown Challenge where the women's performances stood out among the rest to give them a third-place finish with two personal records set and five season bests recorded.
 
Erica Belvit showed her strength in the weight throw with a first-place performance of 18.83m, earning her a personal best length. Monae Cooper took the second-place place spot with 17.27m.
 
Season-best performances came from Leeyan Redwood in the shot put with 14.23m, Khailah Griffin with a long jump length of 5.63m for second place and Melissa Purcell who pole vaulted an impressive 3.80m to take silver.
 
The men's fourth-place finish was highlighted by Andrew Canistracci's first-place performance in the shot put with 16.85m. Donatien Djero tied his season best time in the 60m dash with 6.84 to take first place. He was closely followed by teammate Anthony Roderick in second for 6.92.
 
The team concluded the day with a third-place finish in the 4x400m where Djero, Brandon Moorer, Phillips Magre and Austin Lin ran a 3:18.02.
