BOSTON– The Howlin' Huskies are back at home and ready for a White Out Weekend of action beginning Thursday night at 7 p.m. when the preseason No. 1 Northeastern men's basketball team takes on the preseason No. 2 College of Charleston at Matthews Arena.

The game will be broadcast live on NESNplus and can also be found on CAA.TV outside of the New England region.

Northeastern is coming off of a 90-70 thrashing of William & Mary which rounded out a 2-0 Southern road swing last weekend that also saw a decisive overtime victory over Elon.

Here is what you need to know about Thursday's game:

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:

  1. Huskies vs. Cougars

  • Charleston enters Thursday's game with the Huskies after a 1-1 weekend that saw the Cougars' first home loss, in 23 games, to Drexel (78-79) on Thursday night
  • The Cougars are 5-2 away from TD Arena this season, including a 1-1 mark in conference action, falling to JMU (Jan.5) which snapped a 10-game win-streak)
  • The Cougars are just 3-2 in conference play this season

LEADING THE WAY
  • The two-headed dragon of Grant Riller and Jarrell Brantley lead the way for the Cougars with the junior guard averaging 21.9 ppg and 4.3 apg while the senior forward is putting up 19.3 ppg and pulling down 8.0 rpg through the first 18 games
  • That duo has combined for 41.2 of Charleston's 73.4 ppg (56.1 pct.) this season

ALL-TIME SERIES
  • This will be the 12th meeting between the two teams in a series that Charleston has a slight lead in, 6-5, since it began in the 2013-14 season
  • The two teams have split the season series in three of the previous four seasons with the Huskies coming away with a sweep in the 2014-15 campaign
  • Last season Charleston picked up the season sweep of the Huskies for the first time ever and finished the year out with an OT victory over the Huskies in the CAA Tournament Championship

  1. Back-to-Back

  • For the second-straight season, the Huskies came away with a 90-70 victory over William & Mary
  • For the second-straight season, the win came AT Kaplan Arena
  • To put that in perspective, prior to last year's win, Northeastern won just ONE game in the confines of Kaplan, in 10 tries -- a 68-64 comebackwin on Feb. 11, 2013
  • In addition, Northeastern has now registered a 20-point victory in three-straight seasons over the Tribe, an 84-64 win in 2016-17 in Boston and the last two 90-70 wins in Williamsburg

  1. Last time vs. Charleston

  • In just the fifth overtime CAA men's basketball championship game in league history, it was the No. 1 seeded College of Charleston that outlasted No. 2 seed Northeastern, 83-76, at the North Charleston Coliseum on March 6
  • First Team All-CAA standouts Joe Chealey (32 points) and Vasa Pusica (30 points) went punch-for-punch all night long as the Huskies led by 13 at half before the Cougars fought back from a 17-point second half deficit to force overtime
  • The Huskies shot 49.1% from the field (27-of-55) and 15-of-27 from three, led by Pusica's third 30-point game of the season on 10-of-20 shooting (6-of-11 from three) to go along with four rebounds and four assists pace the Huskies
  • Shawn Occeus added 19 points, Maxime Boursiquot contributed 12 points and five rebounds and Donnell Gresham Jr. led the way on the boards with 12, adding eight points
  • Chealey was one of three Cougars to finish in double-digits, followed by Grant Riller with 20 points and Jarrell Brantley with 18 and a team-high 11 rebounds
