BOSTON – The No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team will host Vermont for a pair of games at Matthews Arena this weekend, starting Friday at 6 p.m. on NESNplus. The Huskies defeated the Catamounts, 4-1, in the first meeting between the teams on Oct. 30 as Katie Cipra, Alina Mueller, Chloe Aurard and Tori Sullivan found the back of the net.

QUICK HITS

• NU is 8-0-0 at home against Hockey East opponents this season. The Huskies have outscored WHEA opponents by a 29-11 margin at Matthews Arena, and have allowed two goals or less in six of eight league home games.

• At 17-3-3, Northeastern currently owns the third-best winning percentage in the nation at 80.4%. This mark is tied for NU's best-ever 23-game start to a season in the Hockey East era (since 2002) as the 2015-16 team started 18-4-1 with an identical winning percentage of 80.4%.

• With 32 league points (15-2-2) this season, Northeastern has already notched its third-highest point total in WHEA play since the program joined the conference in 2002. The Huskies notched 40 WHEA points (20-4-0) in 2015-16 and 33 WHEA points (15-3-3) in 2011-12.

• The Huskies were ranked No. 3 in both national polls for the fifth straight ranking cycle this week. Northeastern is 7-2-2 against the other teams that are ranked or receiving votes in the poll (1-0-1 vs. No. 5 Clarkson, 1-1-0 vs. No. 8 Colgate, 2-1-0 vs. No. 9 BC, 2-0-1 vs. No. 10 BU, 1-0-0 vs. RV Providence).

• Northeastern enters the weekend with the top scoring offense in Hockey East at 3.65 goals per game (fifth-best in the nation). The Huskies have scored at least three goals in each of the last 15 games.

• The last season in which NU scored at least three goals in 15 straight games was 30 years ago in 1988-89. The Huskies have only accomplished the feat four times in program history: 18 straight games with 3+ goals in 1985-86, 16 straight games in 1987-88, and 15 straight games in both 1988-89 and 2018-19.

• Two of the nation's top penalty-killing units will be on display this weekend as both Northeastern and Vermont are tied for second nationally on the kill at 90.5% (76-for-84). Over the past six games, NU has held its opponents to one PPG in 18 chances (5.5%) while Vermont has held its opponents to one PPG in 17 chances (5.9%).

• Northeastern leads all Hockey East teams and ranks third nationally in goals scored during the first period with 29. The Huskies are 11-1-0 when leading after 20 minutes and 16-1-0 when scoring the first goal this season.

• Freshman Alina Mueller enters the weekend riding a 22-game point streak – the longest scoring streak of any Division I women's player this season, and the longest streak for any Northeastern player since the program joined Hockey East in 2002. The last time any WHEA player had a streak as long as 22 games was in 2014-15 when BC's Alex Carpenter posted a 25-game point streak.

• The reigning WHEA Player of the Week, Mueller leads all NCAA rookies in goals (14), assists (21), points (35), game-winning goals (5), plus/minus (+23) and faceoff wins (247). Mueller and fellow freshman phenom Chloe Aurard (24 points) rank first and second in rookie scoring among WHEA players this season.

• Senior Kasidy Anderson has scored in seven straight games and is riding a nine-game point-streak entering the weekend. No other player in Hockey East has posted a goal streak longer than five games this season.

• Anderson leads the Huskies with 16 goals this season and has 49 goals in her NU career. With one more goal, Anderson will become the 22nd player in program history to score at least 50 goals.

• Sophomore goaltender Aerin Frankel ranks second in the NCAA with a 1.49 goals against average, and first in the NCAA with a .946 save percentage this season. Frankel's five shutouts are also tied for the national lead.

• Frankel has been even tougher against league opponents, posting an 11-0-0 record with a 1.28 GAA and a .954 save percentage in 12 starts vs. WHEA teams this season.
