UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.— Lisa Jönsson, a sophomore on the No. 5/4 Northeastern women's hockey team, is the recipient of the Elite 90 award for the 2026 NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Championship.
Jönsson, majoring in economics and business administration, currently carries a 3.91 GPA.
On the ice this season, Jönsson averages a .942 save percentage and 1.61 GAA. A Goaltender of the Year Semifinalist, Jönsson's save percentage ranks as the fifth-best mark in the NCAA and her GAA ranks as the sixth-best. A steady presence in net, Jönsson has recorded four shutouts this season and 21 wins.
Established by the NCAA, the Elite 90 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the competitor who reaches the highest level of national championship competition in their sport while also achieving the top academic standing among their peers. The award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA among those competing at each NCAA championship finals site.
Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above academically who have participated in a sport for at least two years with their school. All ties are broken by the number of credits completed.
