Three NU crews crack top six at Head of the Housatonic

SHELTON, Conn. – Opening the fall season on Satuday at the Head of the Housatonic regatta in Shelton, Connecticut, the Northeastern men's and women's rowing teams made the most of their debut outings, compiling a collection of strong performances.
 
MEN'S RESULTS
The Northeastern men's team placed two boats in the top six of the 8+ Collegiate Men classification, won by Yale's first crew (12:38.9).
 
With Jasper Angl in the stroke seat, the Huskies' lead crew rowed to the fifth-place time of 13:01.6, keeping pace with fourth-place Brown (12:58.4) down the course. Rhett Burns sat in the stroke seat for the Northeastern B boat that placed sixth (13:12.5) ahead of seventh-place Syracuse B (13:16.8).
 
Northeastern's C boat, stroked by Leif Carlson, finished 12th (13:29.6) while the Huskies' D crew, stroked by Gerry Johnson, placed 17th (13:44.0).
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS
The Northeastern women's team came away with a sixth-place result in the 8+ Collegiate Women division (15:06.2), won by Yale's top crew (14:29.9).
 
Helaina Howe sat in the stroke seat as the Huskies crossed the line within range of the fourth-place Yale C boat (15:04.5) and the fifth-place Boston University boat (15:05.5).
 
Northeastern's B crew, stroked by Margaret Allen, placed 20th (15:47.8), immediately ahead of the Huskies' C crew that placed 21st (15:47.9).

• Northeastern will prepare for the prestigious Head of the Charles regatta that will take place during the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20.
