DEDHAM, Mass. – A trio of Northeastern field hockey scorers, including the game-winner by
Lexie Dunleavy, helped the Huskies (8-5) to a 3-1 victory over Bryant (2-13) on Sunday afternoon.
Camille O'Conor, Dunleavy, and
Kasidy Anderson netted goals for NU on the day while
Julia Gluyas was only forced to make one save, while allowing the single goal.
Neither team was able to get anything going in the first half but both were able to add one on in the third quarter. The Huskies struck first as O'Conor netted her eighth goal of the season putting back the rejection of
Lauren Brewster's initial penalty corner shot to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
Before the end of the quarter the Bulldogs were able to even the score at one-all.
But as the fourth quarter began, the Huskies were on a mission first when Dunleavy lifted on high up and over the goalie after a pair of deep shots from
Lauren Rowe, followed by Anderson's seventh goal of the season putting back a rejection from
Alli Meehan's initial shot to build a 3-1 lead and the win. Dunleavy's goal was her career-best fourth of the season.
The Huskies are back in action next weekend with their final road trip of the season when they head to Virginia for a couple games at James Madison and William & Mary.
