WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – It took until the 72
ndminute of action to determine a winner as the Northeastern field hockey team fell to William & Mary on Sunday afternoon in a double overtime thriller.
Julia Gluyas finished with a career-high 17 saves, facing 32 shots on the day, with 27 of them coming in the second half and overtime. The game marked her fourth 10+ save game of her career and the first of this season.
The Huskies came out firing in the second half netting the first goal of the game less than a minute into play off of a penalty corner when
Lauren Rowe netted her 14
thgoal of the year with some help from Meg Barrett and
Alli Meehan to give NU a 1-0 lead.
That lead held until, with just over two minutes to play, the Tribe evened the score on a penalty stroke to send the game to overtime.
It took until the second overtime, but William & Mary was able to eke out the win and remain undefeated in CAA play.
The final weekend of the regular season is upon us and the Huskies will return home to the confines of Dedham Field to take on Drexel Friday night at 6 p.m. followed by Senior Day Sunday at 1 p.m. against Hofstra.
