AMHERST, Mass. – A goal, scored just 35 seconds into action, was the deciding factor in No. 25 Northeastern field hockey's 2-0 loss to UMass on Friday afternoon. The Minutewomen added a goal with just 15 seconds left in the game to earn the two-goal victory.
The Huskies were unable to find the back of the net for the first time this season despite controlling the majority of the offense in the game.
Julia Gluyas made seven saves on the afternoon facing 16 UMass shots.
The Minutewomen got on the board first with the early goal and then added the late tally for the win, their fifth straight over the Huskies.
Northeastern will bounce back on Sunday afternoon when they open the CAA season against No. 11 Delaware at Noon on Alumni Day at Dedham Field. The Huskies and Blue Hens will begin the conference season against each other for the first time in CAA play.
