DEDHAM, Mass. – For the second-straight game, the No. 25 Northeastern field hockey team couldn't get the offense going, this time falling to No. 11 Delaware 5-1 in the CAA opener on Sunday afternoon at Dedham Field.
Alli Meehan finished with Northeastern's lone goal on the day, coming in the final minute of action, while
Julia Gluyas was tested all day finishing with four saves, while allowing the five goals.
The Blue Hens got on the board in the fourth minute and added another one to their total before the end of the first quarter to take a two-goal advantage over the Huskies. Neither team netted anything in the second 15-minute stretch and so NU headed into the half down 2-0.
It took until the 48
thminute until another goal was scored as Delaware capitalized on their first corner of the game to make it a 3-0 game. Once Delaware connected they kept adding to the tally and eventually ended up with a three-goal fourth quarter. Meehan, with some help from
Lauren Rowe, connected for the late goal to avoid the shut out in the 59
thminute.
The Huskies are back in action on Friday afternoon when they head to Towson to face the Tigers at 2 p.m.
