Five Huskies score in double figures as NU herds Bison

BOSTON – With Stella Clark leading its cast of five double-digit scorers on Saturday, the Northeastern women's basketball team worked its way into the win column as the Huskies navigated past North Dakota State, 72-61, at Cabot Center.

Coming off her 21-point night on Wednesday at Central Michigan, Clark paced Northeastern (1-6) in all statistical categories during Saturday's victory against the Bison. The junior point guard led NU in points (24), rebounds (eight), assists (six) and steals (two), shooting seven-for-11 from the field and draining four of the team's nine 3-pointers.

Ayanna Dublin paired 12 points with seven rebounds and three assists for NU while Shannon Todd finished with 12 points, three boards and two steals. Alexis Hill and Kendall Currence rounded out the Huskies' class of double-figure scorers, registering 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Northeastern shot 50 percent from the floor during the opening quarter, beginning the game with a 12-0 scoring run. After Currence's buzzer-beating 3-pointer had put the Huskies in front, 24-17, at the quarter break, NU extended its first-half lead to as many as 10 points before North Dakota State (0-7) closed the second quarter with a 12-3 scoring run, sliding within a point, 34-33, at the intermission.

Two minutes into the second half, Clark connected on the 3-pointer that put Northeastern ahead, 42-35, prompting a seven-minute stretch of the third quarter during which the Huskies' defense limited the Bison to two field goals. Currence capped the period with another buzzer-beating 3-pointer, presenting NU with the 56-44 lead that it would hold onto through the remainder of the game.

Emily Dietz double-doubled for North Dakota State, matching 19 points with 13 rebounds, three steals and a block. Rylee Nudell contributed 14 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the Bison.
