BOSTON - The Northeastern men's basketball team will open up the season this Tuesday at crosstown rival Boston University for a 7 p.m. tip inside Case Gym. This marks the 100th season of men's basketball at Northeastern and the Huskies are coming off an NCAA tournament berth in 2019.
 


The Northeastern-Boston Rivalry
The Huskies and Terriers have each won 74 games in this rivalry. Northeastern is 7-3 over the last 10 games, with all but one being decided by single digits. This is the ninth consecutive year the two programs have opened the season against each other.

Huskies picked third in CAA Preseason Men's Basketball Poll
The defending CAA tournament champions were picked third in the 2019-20 CAA Preseason Men's Basketball Poll, earning four first-place votes. Hofstra was picked to win the league with 14 first-place votes and 331 points, followed closely by College of Charleston with 323 and 18 first-place votes.

Senior sharpshooter Jordan Roland earned second-team preseason accolades for the Huskies. Roland set a new single-season school record last year with 99 threes, averaging 14.6 points per game.

Season Openers
The Huskies are 50-49 all-time in season openers, but 9-4 during the Bill Coen era. The Huskies are 3-2 in season openers at BU, with all five games being decided by an average of 5.8 points, including two overtime victories by NU.
