Frankel claims win in debut with USA Hockey

MONCTON, New Brunswick— Junior goaltender Aerin Frankel made her debut with the senior U.S. Women's National Team, claiming her first victory in the 2-1 win over Canada on Tuesday night at the Avenir Centre.

Frankel made 27 saves to backstop Team USA's defensive efforts, making a few highlight worthy saves and helping kill off two Canadian power play efforts. The USWNT now has a 2-0 lead in the Rivalry Series over Canada, with three more games to be played in February to close out the five-game series.

Northeastern alumna Kendall Coyne Schofield, captain of the USWNT, joined Frankel on the ice as the two representatives for the Huskies during the first two games of the Rivalry Series.

Frankel and the Huskies are back in action on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. against Vermont in Matthews Arena.
