Jordan Roland scored a game-high 28 points and
Tyson Walker finished with 15 points and a career-best six assists to lead Northeastern (5-4) to a 78-63 win over Maine (2-6) on Wednesday night inside Matthews Arena. Roland, a native of Syracuse, N.Y., became the 39th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in his career.
Also in double figures for the Huskies was
Bolden Brace with 11.
Greg Eboigbodin led Northeastern on the glass with a game-high eight rebounds in 18 minutes.
The Huskies shot 59 percent (13-for-22) in the final 20 minutes and used a 14-6 run at the midpoint of the second half to create separation and build an 11-point lead. Northeastern would build that lead up to a game-high 18 points with just under three minutes remaining to solidfy the 15-point win.
The Huskies improve to 2-1 at home this season and 25-5 over their last 30 games inside Matthews Arena. The Red and Black are 9-2 against the Black Bears over their last 11 meetings and lead the all-time series 66-46.
Maine's Andrew Fleming led the Black Bears with 23 points, and Peter Stumer added 12.
The Huskies will close out this two-game homestand against Davidson on Saturday for a 4 p.m. tip. The game will be televised on NESN.
