BOSTON - Jordan Roland scored a team-best 24 points, while
Shaquille Walters and
Tyson Walker added 11 as Northeastern (5-5) dropped a non-conference tilt against Davidson (4-5), 70-63, on Saturday inside Matthews Arena. The Huskies shot a season-low 43 percent from the floor and 28 percent from behind the arc.
Northeastern entered the game as the second-best 3-point shooting team in the country at 44 percent, and had the 10th-best shooting percentage from the floor at 51 percent. The Wildcats outscored the Huskies 34-22 in the paint.
With the score tied at 45, the Wildcats went on a 13-2 run to take a 58-47 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining. The Huskies responded with a quick 6-0 run with 3-pointers by Roland and
Bolden Brace to get within five, 58-53 (7:03). The Wildcats' Jon A Gudmundsson had the answer all day as he converted a 3-pointer and finished with a game-high 28 points, including going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc.
Also in double figures for the Wildcats was Luka Brajkovic with 14 points. Davidson's bench outscored the Huskies' bench, 11-3.
Northeastern will travel to Detroit for a two-game road swing to conclude non-conference games. The Huskies will face Eastern Michigan on Dec. 17, and Detroit Mercy on Dec. 19.
